Riomaggiore is located in the region of Liguria, in Northern Italy. It's one of the five towns that make up Cinque Terre, and the closest to La Spezia.
It's one of the most iconic of the five towns and for sure a must-visit if you go to Cinque Terre. It has a beautiful historic centre, featuring all the typical characteristics of a Ligurian with narrow cobbled streets and colourful houses.
Staying in Manarola: It's a great option if you plan to visit Cinque Terre, but accommodation prices are very high. I believe if you plan to visit Cinque Terre, a night in either Riomaggiore, Vernazza or Manarola is something to do as it's part of the experience! But if you're on a budget, the best alternatives are Levanto or La Spezia.
I stayed in Riomaggiore and it was so convenient. Got to enjoy the town during the evening and early in the morning, which is when most day trippers are not in Cinque Terre.
Why stay here? it's perfect if you want to stay in one of the five towns and enjoy all of your time in Cinque Terre. It's one of my favourite towns and there are many food options too!
Day trip to Cinque Terre? If you're visiting Cinque Terre for just one day, I'd recommend coming to Riomaggiore, is a must-visit!
