Buksnes Church is a parish church located in Vestvågøy Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. This is one of the most iconic buildings in Lofoten, and an incredible subject to photograph as it's framed by the huge mountains that surround it, or if you're lucky, the northern lights above. It has been used in some form since the 13th century but its current building dates back to 1905 when it was constructed in a red, wooden Dragestil design that can seat up to 600 people. The church is an active member of the Church of Norway and is the parish church for the Buksnes parish. Buksnes Church is also notable for having served as a polling station for Norway's first national elections which were held in 1814. The church has faced several disasters over the years, like a major storm in 1639 and a lightning strike that burnt it down in 1903, but it remains a beautiful example of Romanesque architecture in Norway and is a popular attraction for visitors.
