Old Wharf Remains great for photography

spot photo

message de Rach Stewart

The remains of the Burke Street Wharf, located in Thames, New Zealand was built in the late 1800s due to the demand of intensified mining activities. Eventually abandoned, the pylons left behind make for a great photo spot if you're passing through Thames on the high tide.

It might not look like much when you arrive (especially if the tide isn't in!) but if you manage to time it right with sunset and some nice sky, and the high tide, this little spot can be really beautiful.

Take your wide angle lens (16-35mm) or similar and arrive for golden hour or sunset, or a moody day like this image.
