Ponta do Sol is known as the "point of sun" for the obvious reason that the sun always shines here. Not literally, but it's pretty darn close. So what we sometimes do when the weather is bad in Funchal, is that we drive to Ponta do Sol to sit by the water and have a coffee.

Ponta do Sol is also known as the expat hub, where all the biggest news outlet around the world extensively has written about this growing community that mainly consists of so called digital nomads.

It's a small town and there isn't much to do other than just relax and have some food. Of restaurants worth visiting you have:

2. The Old Pharmacy

The ones by the water don't have great food, so keep that in mind if you insist on the ocean view. Sometimes we make that sacrifice as a good view makes even poor food taste alright.
