You reach the trail with a cable car. Then you walk on a wide, path that parallels the mountain train tracks, leading to Mürren.
This trail is one of the easiest in the Jungfrau Region, suitable for all abilities. The path is obstacle-free, making it suitable for strollers and those with limited mobility that need a smooth surface for walking. It has minimal elevation gain, so good for non-hikers and those with knee problems.
Trail description
The trail starts at Grütschalp (top of cable car). Follow signs to Winteregg, walking on a wide dirt path.
After about 30 mins (2km), you reach Winteregg, where you'll find a restaurant, toilets, small playground. This is also a top for the Mürren mountain train. If you don't want to keep walking, you can ride the rest of the way to Mürren on the train, which comes every 15 mins.
From Winteregg, follow signs to Mürren, continuing on the wide dirt path parallel to the mountain train tracks. This section is often in the forest, with occasional mountain views.
After another 45 mins or so, you reach the Mürren village.
💡Tip: This is also a winter trail, where the snow is groomed with machine for easy walking.

Your ticket depends on your starting and ending point and which mountain railways you use. Tell the ticket office what you plan to do and they'll sell you the correct ticket.
In general, the cable cars and mountain trains for this hike are free with Swiss Travel Pass, Saver Day Pass, Eurail, Interrail, and GA. But verify current benefits before traveling.
