Hoa Lo Prison, also known as the "Hanoi Hilton," was a notorious prison in Hanoi, Vietnam. Originally built by the French to hold political prisoners, it later became a place where U.S. prisoners of war were held during the Vietnam War. The conditions were harsh, earning it the sarcastic nickname "Hanoi Hilton" from American POWs. Despite claims of humane treatment by the North Vietnamese, many prisoners reported severe torture and abuse. After the war, the prison was demolished, but its gatehouse remains as a museum, serving as a reminder of its dark history.
