Via Ferrata climbing offers a spectacular and safe way of experiencing Romsdalen from above. Using a network of steel cables, ladders and aids, now almost everybody can enjoy climbing and the spectacular view it brings. You don't need previous climbing experience to participate on a guided trip!
Romsdalsstigen Via Ferrata consists of two adventurous climbing trails: the Intro wall and the West wall. Both will fill you with a rush of adrenaline, a sense of achievement and outstanding photo opportunities. You will also experience a magnificent view of the monumental Romsdalsfjellene mountains.
Via ferrata is Italian for "iron ladder" and is a customized climbing trail. Safely secured to the mountain, you can challenge yourself and climb up the rock wall without being a mountaineer. While climbing, you can displace the carabiners upwards along the steel wires bolted to the mountain. In areas where a natural foothold is lacking, planks and steps have been mounted. We promise you a mountain trip you will never forget in the dramatic and exceptional valley Romsdalen.
We highly recommend that everyone walks along with one of the skilled via-ferrata guides, but you can also go on your own with equipment from Norsk Tindesenter. What you need is a helmet and a climbing harness including fall protection with two via-ferrata-approved carabiners. You can climb up the rock wall by holding on to the steel wire. Both carabiners must be fastened to the wire during the entire journey.
The Intro wall – a short and airy hike for most people The Intro wall is a half day trip of 3-4 hours, suitable if you want to try climbing in via ferrata, maybe for the first time. No previous knowlege is required, but you should be in a normally good physical shape.
The route has been classified with a difficulty degree B in the International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation Via ferrata scale.
Romsdalsstigen Via Ferrata has two alternatives: Both the short and a long trail will give you magnificent views as well as unique photo opportunities.
You can order your trip or rent your equipment on tindesenteret.no
