Schilthorn Excursion from Lauterbrunnen Valley

1. Lauterbrunnen to Mürren

Start your journey from Lauterbrunnen, where you can take a cable car up to Grütschalp. From there, hop onto the narrow-gauge train to Mürren. The journey is picturesque and provides stunning views of the valley and surrounding peaks.

2. Mürren to Schilthorn

From Mürren, you will take a series of two cable cars to reach the summit of Schilthorn. First, board the cable car to Birg. The views from Birg are also impressive, so consider stopping here on your way up or down. From Birg, catch another cable car to the Schilthorn summit.

3. Schilthorn Summit

At the Schilthorn summit, enjoy the breathtaking 360-degree panoramic view of the Swiss Alps. You can also visit the interactive Bond World exhibit and dine at the Piz Gloria, a revolving restaurant that offers a changing view as you enjoy your meal. Schilthorn was featured in the James Bond movie "On Her Majesty's Secret Service," which is the theme of the exhibit and restaurant.

4. Return Trip

For your return journey, take the same route back to Lauterbrunnen. However, an alternative and equally scenic route is available. You can take the cable car from Schilthorn to Stechelberg via Mürren and then catch a PostBus back to Lauterbrunnen.

Additional Notes

The entire round trip from Lauterbrunnen to Schilthorn and back will take approximately 5-6 hours, depending on how long you spend at the summit and on breaks along the way. The cable car operation times vary throughout the year, so it's advisable to check the schedule ahead of time.

With the Swiss Travel Pass, the trip to Schilthorn is NOT free. Travel to the summit of the Schilthorn is NOT fully covered by the Swiss Travel Pass however a generous discount applies.Passholders travelling from Lauterbrunnen via Grutschalp receive slightly more than 50% off.

Otherwise, the regular price is approximately CHF 105 for adults. Tickets can be purchased at the stations. Make sure to show your Swiss Pass Everywhere you go to get the discounts
