Omoide Yokocho, or “Memory Lane,” is one of my favorite spots in Tokyo.

Tucked away near Shinjuku Station, this narrow alley is packed with tiny, old-school eateries and yakitori joints grilling up some of the tastiest skewers you’ll ever have (promise yourself you'll match these tasty morsels with some delicious plum wine).

It’s smoky, cozy, and feels like stepping back in time to post-war Tokyo.

Most places only seat a handful of people, so you’ll be shoulder-to-shoulder with locals, which if you ask me is honestly all part of the charm.

Just a heads-up: most spots charge a cover fee to be seated, so ask first or check for signage. Bring cash, grab a sake, and lap it up!
