Blue Lakes Pass is one of my favorite places in the San Juans to watch both the sunrise and sunset. If you have a 4x4 capable vehicle, I highly recommend accessing via Yankee Boy Basin. It is quite the slog via the standard Blue Lakes trail. Of the three times we've been up to the pass, we've seen Moose AT THE PASS two of the times. I also love that if you shoot sunrise, you get the best shadow cast over Blue Lakes from Queen Sneffels herself (see second photo)
