California Pass is a historic four-wheel-drive road near Silverton, Colorado, known for its stunning views of the San Juan Mountains and vibrant wildflowers. At 12,963 feet, you can catch a glimpse of the shimmering Lake Como. On the eastern side, check out the well-preserved ghost town of Animas Forks and the Frisco Mill. It's a great trail for beginners looking to tackle some shelf roads and soak in Colorado's mining history while enjoying the great outdoors.
California Pass Summit also happens to be one of my favorite sunset spots in the San Juans. The views looking west over Lake Como are simply unbeatable.
