Message from Hello Mallory

✨ Looking for an easy stop on your visit to Ouray or the San Juan Mountains? This is the perfect place to stop if you’re passing through on Million Dollar Highway, stretch your legs, eat a picnic, and see a 200 foot waterfall in the heart of town.

💦 Lower Cascade Falls is visible from nearly anywhere in Ouray and is an impressive sight to see, not to mention accessible for most everyone. To get to the trail that leads to Cascade Falls drive east up 8th Avenue. 8th Avenue dead-ends in the Cascade Falls parking lot and your hike will start there.

💵 FREE parking and access with 🚽 at the parking lot.

🥾 The hike is only 0.5 mile RT, but is slightly steep - especially if you’re still getting used to your mountain legs and lungs.

If you’re looking for more of a challenge, you can also consider hiking the Perimeter Trail around town, as the trail will take you right by Cascade Falls. Start at the Hot Springs and head east — and this is one of my favorite sections of the trail.

Have you seen Cascade Falls? The best time to see the falls is late spring and early summer when its raging from snow melt.
