STATISTICS AT-A-GLANCE

  • HIKE NAME: Tusher Tunnel

  • DISTANCE: 3-4 miles RT depending where you start, 0.1 miles if you ATV to the TH

  • ELEVATION GAIN: 300 feet

  • RESTROOMS: No bathrooms at the trailhead, but you’ll find them on Mill Canyon Rd at the Dinosaur Track TH a couple miles away

  • DOG FRIENDLY: Yes, but know you’ll be hiking along a popular OHV route either along the road or in a wash

  • PERMIT: No

  • FEE: No

  • VEHICLE REQUIREMENTS: 2wd // Mill Canyon Road is usually in decent shape for most any vehicle.

  • TRAILHEAD COORDINATES: 38.711045, -109.782828 // You can start this hike from multiple points. I parked and started HERE: 38.719352, -109.762563. You can also start the hike from HERE: 38.725407, -109.777543

  • MAP PROVIDED IN WEBSITE: Yes, Gaia GPX

🗺️ Requires basic route finding if you hike, but since it is located on a popular ATV route, there’s multiple signs pointing you in the right direction. I would download the GPX to have in your pocket just in case.

📅 When to visit? I’d save this one for a return visit — it’s fun, but if time is limited, so many other impressive things to see first. (If your primary goal is hiking)

♻️ The tunnel and just outside the Southern entrance are unfortunately riddled with graffiti and name carvings. Please don’t contribute to this. No one cares you were there and would much rather enjoy the terrain in its purest form.
