The Norah Head Lighthouse is an impressive structure located in New South Wales, Australia. Constructed in 1903 out of concrete blocks, it stands at 27.5 meters (90 ft) high and topped with a bluestone gallery and original Chance Bros lantern. With a light intensity of 1,000,000 candela, Norah Head Light has become a beacon of safety for ships off the coasts of Australia, flashing white every 15 seconds and flashing red and green as additional signals. The complex consists of not only the lighthouse itself, but also a chief lightkeeper’s cottage, assistant keeper’s duplex, flag house, underground fresh water tanks, and two cottages available for overnight stays. Thanks to Norah Head Light, navigation around this once “once perilous” area has become much safer.
