Hanging Rock, located in central Victoria, Australia, is a unique geological formation that used to be a volcano. Rising 718 meters above sea level, it's known for its distinctive rock formations like the "Hanging Rock" boulder and the Colonnade. The area has cultural significance to the indigenous tribes forced from the land in the 19th century, and it gained widespread recognition as the setting of Joan Lindsay's novel "Picnic at Hanging Rock." Today, the site hosts horse races, community events, and occasional outdoor concerts by major international acts, making it a popular spot for locals and visitors alike.
