Charming port town in Scotland

Message from Ian G Black

Lerwick is a charming town and port in the Shetland archipelago, Scotland. With a population of around 7,000 residents, it's the northernmost major settlement in the UK. Known for its maritime climate, Lerwick experiences cool temperatures year-round and gets its fair share of wind and rain. Despite its high latitude, the town enjoys long summer days with twilight nights and short, dark winter days. Lerwick's history dates back to the Neolithic period, and its name means "bay of clay" in Old Norse. Overall, Lerwick offers a unique blend of history, culture, and stunning natural beauty.
