The World's End Close in Edinburgh, Scotland, was once considered the end of the world for the city's poorest residents. Back in the day, it marked the city limit and housed a gatehouse where travelers had to pay a toll to enter or leave. If you couldn't afford the fee, tough luck—you were stuck in Edinburgh forever. Today, it's just a cool alleyway with a pub nearby called The World's End that pays homage to its historical significance.
