Skardu, a city in Pakistan-administered Gilgit-Baltistan, is nestled in the stunning Skardu Valley at an elevation of around 2,500 meters. Known as the gateway to the towering Karakoram mountain range, Skardu sits at the confluence of the Indus and Shigar rivers. Its name is said to mean "a lowland between two high places," with historical roots dating back to the 16th century. From its Maqpon rulers to the Mughal conquest, Skardu's rich history is intertwined with the diverse cultures that have shaped this picturesque city. With its breathtaking landscapes and vibrant heritage, Skardu is a must-visit destination for nature lovers and history buffs alike.
