Message from Irene Pila

Skaros Rock is a striking promontory located on the Greek island of Santorini. Once home to a thriving fishing and mercantile village in the early 13th century, its rocky cliffs have been shaped over the millennia by volcanic eruptions and earthquakes. The rock served as a fortified settlement that flourished through multiple cultures, from the Byzantine Empire to the Venetian Republic. Today, the ruins are open to hikers and photographers who can explore the remnants of this unique piece of history. What's more, portion of Skaros remains an active monastery, the Chapel of Panagia Theoskepasti, offering visitors a powerful reminder of the site's past.
