This is without a doubt one of my most cherished temples that I highly recommend visiting to anyone, whether you're a first-time visitor or not.

Otagi Nenbutsu-ji is an unmissable gem of a Buddhist temple located in the outskirts of Arashiyama. The temple boasts over 1,200 stone statues, each with its own distinct expression. Strolling through the temple grounds feels akin to wandering in a magical garden. It offers a joyful and lighthearted experience that stands apart from the usual tourist spots.

*It becomes more popular year by year, but I still think it's worth visiting anyway. I highly recommend avoiding it on weekends, and it's usually relatively empty 1-2 hours before closing making it a good time window for visiting
