Finding a suitable parking spot for a campervan around Lago di Braies isn’t easy, as parking is strictly regulated and controls are frequent. You shouldn’t just park anywhere, as fines are common. If you’re driving to Lago di Braies with your campervan, you’ll have to pay the 24-hour parking fee anyway 😅—so in my opinion, you might as well stay overnight!
The parking lot itself is basic, just a regular parking area, but for one night, it does the job—especially if you want to catch both sunset and sunrise at this stunning location.
Road Closures: From early July to mid-September, the road to the Pragser Wildsee is closed to private vehicles daily between 9:30 AM and 4:00 PM (if you haven't booked a parking in advanced --> you can only book a ticket in advanced for cars and motorcycles, but its a lot more expensive to book a ticket in advanced!).
If you’re arriving with a campervan, first of all, you won’t be able to book a parking spot online in advance.
Secondly, the cost for a camper van is €35 for 24 hours (2024), and you’ll need to park at P4 since it has no height restrictions.
There are no facilities or services available, but I’d recommend arriving before 9:30 am or after 4 PM. This way, you can explore the lake the whole day + during sunset and then revisit the next morning for sunrise or you can explore more of the area directly around the lake.
The price is definitely not cheap, especially considering it’s essentially just a parking lot, and parts of it are even slightly sloped. However, if you’re traveling with a camper or something similar, I’d recommend staying overnight here. Otherwise, you’ll still have to pay the full price, even if you only stay for 2 hours.

Here are two interesting hikes I’d recommend.
