Rødmoldheia (Raudmoldheia) - 630 moh - Kvæfjord

Rødmoldheia is a mountain in Kvæfjord municipality, Troms. The highest point, at 630 meters above sea level, is located on the western side of the plateau, with a lower peak further east.

The name comes from the rust-red sand that appears in large patches on the steep, south-facing slopes. This distinct red color is visible from a great distance, making the mountain easily recognizable.

The mountain has a rounded shape, characteristic of the highland landscape in this part of Hinnøya, northeast of Rødmoldheia (Raudmoldheia) – 630 moh – Kvæfjord

The terrain is moderate, making it a good choice for beginners looking for a longer trip.

Parking:
Drive to the shooting range in Kvæfjord. Park at the range, then continue on foot along Tortenbakkveien heading north. This is the road that continues where you turn off for the parking area.

After about 650 meters, you will reach a gate blocking vehicle access. Pass this gate and continue along the road. There is a small parking area at the gate, but space is limited.

After approximately 1.8 km, turn left and follow this path until you reach 2.1 km from the parking area. Here, the road transitions into a trail—stay to the right. Follow the trail along the west (left) side of Daleelva until you reach an area where the terrain levels out.

Above the tree line, there is a steeper section before it flattens out again towards the summit.

Distance: About 8.5 km round trip from the parking area at the shooting range.
