As America's Largest National Park, there are two entrances to Wrangell-St. Elias. One on the north (more remote) and one on the south (much more popular and easier to navigate with more to do). Both are dirt roads but the south road leads to the town of McCarthy - a unique town with local bars and restaurants. This is also the start of many hiking trails into the park and the old mine which is still around for you to explore. If you continue past the mine, you'll eventually get to Root Glacier - one of the last glaciers you can easily walk on without a tour. Watch our visit to Wrangell-St. Elias here.
