Findeln is a charming alpine hamlet above Zermatt, known for its traditional wooden chalets, breathtaking Matterhorn views and some of the best mountain restaurants in the region. Nestled at around 2,000 meters, it’s a peaceful place that feels worlds away from the bustling village below.

You can reach Findeln by hiking down from Sunnegga, a short but scenic walk through alpine meadows with uninterrupted views of the Matterhorn. In summer, the trail is lined with wildflowers, while in winter, it’s a popular stop for skiers looking to enjoy a long lunch in the sun. The area is famous for its gourmet mountain huts, where you can enjoy regional specialties like rösti, cheese fondue, and homemade desserts, all with stunning panoramic views.

Despite its popularity, Findeln has kept its rustic charm, with small wooden houses and barns dating back centuries. It’s the perfect spot to slow down, take in the scenery and experience the quieter side of Zermatt.

Seraina’s Tip: If you’re visiting in the afternoon, grab a seat on a restaurant terrace and enjoy the golden light on the Matterhorn. The combination of great food and incredible views makes for an unforgettable experience.
