This is a drive-to hut. It's surrounded by a campground, with plenty of camping spaces.

It is along the Te Araroa trail, Mountains to Sea Cycle Trail, and the Wanganui Journey, so it can get busy - especially in summertime. Winter you'll have this spot nice and quiet.

You can base yourself here, and then do short walks or bike rides from here if you don't fancy carrying a heavy pack for too long. In particular if your kids are super young.
