Wilson creek chasm - canyon waterfall

Wilson Creek Bridge is a hidden gem tucked away in South Westland, near Haast Pass. It's not your typical tourist spot, but if you're up for an adventure, it's worth checking out. To get there, you'll need to navigate a rough track and clamber over some rocks to reach the stream bed. Once you're there, brace yourself for a magical experience as you wade through the knee-deep water into the stunning gorge. Do NOT enter this canyon if the water levels are too high or too strong. This is a dangerous activity, and you must exercise high caution. The river can be up to your waist in some sections, so you will get wet. Do not go further than the waterfall in the back, as it is for canyoneering.

If driving from Wanaka, park on the right side of the highway just past this pin. There is a large gravel parking lot. once you get out of your car and face the highway, make sure there are no cars coming and walk left down the highway for about 50 metres. You then cross the highway once you are at the stream. Looking at the stream/canyon, you will want start by entering on the left side. Once you get past the slippery rocks, you can zigzag through the canyon taking the easiest (shallowest) route.
