The Lewis Pass is a mountain pass in New Zealand that sits between the Maruia River and Lewis River valleys. At 907 meters high, it's lower than Arthur's Pass but higher than Haast Pass. Named after Henry Lewis, who discovered it in 1860, the pass is a scenic route traversed by State Highway 7. It's surrounded by native beech forest and offers tramping routes like the St James Walkway. Plus, there's a cool alpine nature walk loop nearby and the beautiful Lewis Pass Scenic Tarn. So, if you're into stunning views and outdoor adventures, Lewis Pass is definitely worth checking out!

Photography info: There are a lot of pull overs along the road and plenty of areas to stop and take photos. I would suggest your mid range zoom lens and keep an eye out for beautiful photo opportunities especially during the winter months.
