Laki, a volcanic fissure in Iceland, erupted violently between June 1783 and February 1784. This event led to catastrophic consequences, including the death of over 50% of Iceland's livestock and a devastating famine that claimed the lives of at least a fifth of the island's population. The eruption also caused a drop in global temperatures, impacting weather patterns across Europe and beyond.
In the area you can do an easy hike to mt. Láki to see the craters from above, visit small lakes or do walk on the maize of trails leading you through ,,out-of-this-world'' lava fields
