How to get around in Jackson Hole and Grand Teton National Park
In the summer, having a car in Jackson Hole offers the most flexibility and convenience, especially for exploring the surrounding national parks. With a car, you can easily access the stunning landscapes of Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks, as well as nearby scenic drives and hidden gems in the valley. Rental cars are readily available at the airport and throughout town.
While we highly recommend having access to a car while in Jackson, there are also a few other transportation options that can enhance your experience. Public transportation is offered through the local START Bus which includes routes around the town of Jackson and routes that connect the town of Jackson to Teton Village.
If you're staying in or around Jackson's Town Square, walking is a pleasant and easy way to explore the heart of the town, with plenty of shops, restaurants, and art galleries within walking distance. Jackson’s pedestrian-friendly layout makes it a perfect place to wander on foot and soak up the local atmosphere.
For a more active way to get around, biking is a popular choice. Jackson has a network of well-maintained pathways that connect key areas in town and along the scenic Snake River. Biking is an excellent way to explore both the town and its surrounding natural beauty at your own pace, especially if you’re looking to take in the views while getting some exercise. Personally we love to bring our bikes into Grand Teton National Park and take a ride along the scenic Teton Park Road between Dornan's and Jenny Lake.
