Although the trail undulates with gradual inclines and descents, it is never steep. Once you reach the lake, Baring Mountain steals the show. Its dramatic peaks jet above the tree line into the sky, casting beautiful reflections onto the lake. The trail to Barkley Lake is well maintained, and its accessibility makes it a popular day hike option in the area. Nevertheless, it manages to exude deep wilderness vibes for the minimal effort required to complete the trail.
