Get a fascinating glimpse into Iceland's geological history by visiting this gorgeous crater in West Iceland.

One of the things that makes Eldborg Crater so special is its striking appearance. The crater rises up from the surrounding landscape like a massive red dome, creating a stark contrast with the green fields and black lava rock. The hike to the top of the crater is also incredibly scenic, offering stunning views of the surrounding countryside and coastline.

Another great thing about visiting Eldborg Crater is that it's a relatively easy hike, suitable for travelers of all ages and fitness levels and the trail is well-marked. Once you reach the top, you'll be rewarded with stunning panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and the inside of the crater.

I find it cool that the crater is so symmetric. Fun fact – Eldborg is 200 meters (656 feet) in diameter, and 50 meters (164 feet) deep.
