Systrafoss Waterfall is a breathtaking experience located in Kirkjubæjarklaustur Village, Iceland. This stunning waterfall is fed by the adjacent lake, Systravatn, offering visitors two separate cascades that fall side-by-side from the cliffs. The true beauty of the area can be seen from the top of the falls, or from the nearby trails. Additionally, travelers will learn about its rich history, as there once was a Benedictine convent that operated from 1186 to 1554. Legend has it that a mysterious hand rose out of the lake with a golden comb and pulled down some of the disobedient nuns. No matter what might have happened in the past, the true appeal of Systrafoss is its mesmerizing twin waterfalls plunging into the abyss below.
