Hike
Hike
1-2h
This majestic waterfall is the second tallest in Iceland and offers an unforgettable hiking experience with breathtaking views.
The hike to Glymur waterfall is a moderate hike that takes around 3-4 hours roundtrip, making it perfect for travelers looking for a bit of adventure and exercise. The trail takes you through stunning landscapes of moss-covered lava fields, craggy mountains, and meandering rivers.
One of the highlights of this hike is crossing a narrow suspension bridge over a river (basically a long plank of wood that would put there to make crossing easier), which can be a thrilling experience for those who have the balance and agility. The bridge is perfectly safe and provides an incredible view of the river canyon below.
Once you reach the waterfall, you'll be greeted with a spectacular view of the 198 meter (650 feet) high cascade plunging into a deep ravine. It's an experience that will leave you feeling exhilarated and in awe of the power of nature.
Pack your hiking boots, grab your camera, and get ready for an unforgettable adventure in the Icelandic wilderness.
Please note that it is best to come here during the summer, early fall or late spring. The bridge is taken down during the winter and the trail can be quite dangerous, or even fatal, when there is a lot of ice.
