Not far from the well-known Goðafoss waterfall is the stunning Aldeyjarfoss. In about 45 minutes, you can experience the beauty of this waterfall but no crowds!

As you approach the waterfall, you'll be greeted by an awe-inspiring sight. Cascading from a height of 20 meters, the crystalline waters plunge into a striking basalt basin, creating a breathtaking contrast against the dark volcanic rocks.

One of the most alluring aspects of Aldeyjarfoss is its remote location. Far from the tourist crowds, you'll have the privilege of experiencing the tranquility and peacefulness that comes with being in the heart of Icelandic wilderness. The absence of crowds allows you to fully immerse yourself in the magic of the surroundings and appreciate the raw power of nature undisturbed.

Beyond its aesthetic appeal, Aldeyjarfoss showcases Iceland's fascinating geology. The waterfall is framed by towering basalt columns, formed by ancient lava flows that cooled and solidified over time. These geometric marvels offer a glimpse into Iceland's volcanic history and provide a natural wonder to marvel at as you take in the sight of the cascading waters.

Please note that the last part of the road to get to the parking lot for this waterfall requires that you have a 4x4 vehicles because it is an F-road.
