The Hvítserkur sea stack is a unique rock formation that rises out of the water and stands at an impressive 15 meters tall. Due to the distinctive shape of this rock formation some think it resembles a dragon, a giant sea monster or a petrified troll standing in the sea. But the beauty of Hvítserkur is not just in its shape, it's also in its surroundings. The sea stack is in a beautiful coastal area on the eastern shore of Vatnses peninsula with dramatic cliffs, pristine beaches, and stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean. After parking in the lot, you view the sea stack from above or climb down to the beach and take a stroll. If the tide is out, you can even walk to the sea stack for some cool pictures. One of the best times to visit Hvítserkur is during the summer months when the days are long, and the weather is mild. However, even in the winter, the area can be just as breathtaking, with snow-covered cliffs and the Northern Lights dancing in the sky above.
