If you're near Watkins Glen, this road side stop is definitely worth taking a quick detour.

Hector Falls is an impressive waterfall, cascading about 165 feet. It's unique because it's divided into two main sections: an upper and a lower falls.

The upper falls are located on private property and are not open to the public.

However, you can see the lower falls right from Route 414. Head north from Watkins Glen on NY-414 for about 5 minutes and you'll see the waterfall on your right. There's a bridge in front of the waterfall and you'll probably see a few cars already pulled over to look at it.

Please remember to be cautious when parking and crossing the road, as the area can be busy with traffic.
