Looking for a unique getaway near the Catskill Mountains? Stay in this old, beautifully renovated milk barn on a working farm. It's the perfect place to unwind and disconnect for awhile.
This was one of our most memorable stays in the Catskills. In addition to the cozy milk barn stay, you have access to private hiking trails and can tour the farm upon request.
You have to be a little adventurous to stay here because it requires maneuvering a tiny ladder to get to the sleeping loft. Up in the loft, you'll find a queen-sized bed & a single bed.
There is a wood stove, running water, kitchen, living room & bathroom.
The space was originally lined with stainless steel & was a walk-in cooler for milk storage when there was a dairy farm on the land in the 40s. It was renovated by master carpenter, David Raponi, who lived here for 7 years and suffused the space with various quirks of comfort and creativity. It has a wood stove and the hosts will prepare the fires for you if requested.
The barn is fully insulated & the original vaulted ceiling is intact. The bathroom is equipped with a shower, sink, and composting toilet similar to an outhouse.
