Despite it's popularity, this swimming hole is actually easy to miss if you don't know where you're going.

Split Rock Falls is a gorgeous and unique waterfall located in the Adirondack Park in Essex County, New York, only a short drive from Lake Placid.

Featuring two main drops, Split Rock Falls stands at an impressive 30-35 feet tall!

To get there, input "Split Rock Falls" into Google Maps. The parking area is super small and looks like a pull-off on the side of the road. From there, follow the path through the trees. You can see the falls from the top of the cliff or take the short climb down to the bottom.

This is a really popular spot for swimming in the summer. If you decide to visit, get here super early to beat the crowds and please remember to always pack out all of your trash.

In winter, the overlook turns into a great spot to take winter photos! Always use extra caution near any ledges and on frozen water, and always wear micro spikes if there is snow or ice present to avoid slipping down the hill.
