Hike to swimming hole: 1.3 miles

Fawn's Leap is a beautiful waterfall and natural swimming hole near Hunter, NY in Kaaterskill Wild Forest. It's a popular place for cliff jumping and to cool off in the pool on a hot summer day.

*While this is well known place for cliff jumping, it's very dangerous so please make sure you know what you're doing and check the depth before you jump.

You can stay here, or continue on about 500 ft downstream to explore the waterfall under the bridge nearby. There's another swimming hole here that less people know about. Continue even further downstream to combine this swimming hole with a visit to Rat's Hole.

How to get there:

The trailhead to Fawn's Leap is along Route 23A near Haines Falls. You'll see the parking area just after the small Moore's bridge. Parking is extremely limited, so the earlier you get here, the better. Do not park illegally because you will be towed.

Please remember to always follow Leave No Trace principles when visiting natural places, such as this one. This includes packing out ALL of your trash and respecting wildlife/other visitors so these places can stay open and beautiful for years to come.

Please consider bringing an extra trash bag to pack out what others may have left behind.
