This is a backcountry lodge in the heart of the Adirondack High Peaks near Keene Valley.
Johns Brook Lodge is essentially used as a basecamp for hikers who want to hike the surrounding High Peaks without having to carry a bunch of gear with them. To get there, you have to hike 3.5 miles in from the Garden Parking Area in Keene Valley.
The lodge is very rustic, much like a backcountry hostel. It sleeps 28 people in 4 co-ed bunk rooms. Most of the year, you'll have to cook your own food, but you'll have full access to the kitchen. In July and August, your rate includes full service breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Aside from the 28 person lodge, there are a few additional accommodations on the property. They include the Grace Camp, year round cabin that sleeps 6, Camp Peggy O’Brien, a 12-person year round cabin, and 3 backcountry lean-tos.
Here's all the information on staying at Johns Brook Lodge
All proceeds from the Johns Brook Lodges and campgrounds go toward supporting the ADK's mission of protecting and promoting the responsible recreational use of the New York State Forest Preserve, and other parks, wild lands, and waters.
