Message from James Martin

The town of Monzone is home to one of our favorite restaurants, that of Remo, who expertly runs the front of the house. My first memory of this restaurant was the pork tenderloin wrapped in lardo. I ate it, then I bought a house in the Lunigiana.

As is the custom in the Lunigiana, order the appetizer and you won't have to specify anything; plates of food will come to the table that will give you an idea of what the folks around here eat.

Remo has a supply of good beef and recently added a menu; before the menu everything they made that day was recited by the server.

Remo has a wine cellar and the prices of a fine bottle are surprisingly inexpensive. The house wine is good as well.
