Filetto, a borgo which dates from the 6th and 7th centuries, has been cited by Dante in his writings. The town was a fortress used for protection by the Byzantine people during Longobard invasions. It features a grid system of passageways, a huge central piazza, often used for festivals, and retains its Medieval configuration. It's a great place to poke around in for an hour or so.
Outside the medieval center you'll find I Sapori del Borgo, the flavors of Filetto, where you can buy some local foods and ingredients.
Also just out of town, a short walk takes you to Selva dei Castagni di Filetto, a Chestnut wood mentioned by Dante, surrounded by old Chesnut trees and sprinkled with barbeques you can use for a picnic.
