My TIP

A visit to this tower is definitely worth it. It offers breathtaking views of Charles Bridge, Prague Castle and the whole of Hradčany.

Explore Lesser Town Bridge Tower

The Lesser Town Bridge Towers in Prague, also known as Malostranská mostecká věž, are a pair of towers connected by a gate that serve as the entrance to the Lesser Town from the iconic Charles Bridge.

One tower has a Romanesque origin dating back to the 12th century, while the other is a Late Gothic structure from 1464. Visitors can climb to the viewing gallery for stunning views of the Vltava River and the city center. Don't miss out on this cool spot for some awesome views and historical vibes in Prague!

Interesting fact

An interesting fact about this tower is that it's actually comprised of two connected towers of different styles and eras, making it unique among the city's many historic towers.

The taller, more elaborately decorated main tower was built in the late 15th century in the Gothic style under the reign of King George of Poděbrady. It was designed to match the Old Town Bridge Tower on the opposite side of the Charles Bridge, creating a symmetrical gate to the city. The smaller tower, adjacent to it, dates back to the 12th century and was part of the Judith Bridge, the predecessor to the Charles Bridge.
