🇬🇧 Ferhadija Mosque stood in the center of Banja Lukas until its destruction in 1993 and was one of the finest examples of 16th-century Ottoman Islamic architecture in Bosnia and Herzegovina. During the war it was destroyed, its parts thrown onto rubbish dumps or buried. It was rebuilt by 2014 and around 60 percent of the old parts could be found again. Old and new are now combined in the mosque to form a permanent memorial to the war.

🇩🇪 Die Ferhat-Pascha-Moschee, besser bekannt als Ferhadija-Moschee, stand bis zu ihrer Zerstörung 1993 im Zentrum Banja Lukas und war eines der schönsten Beispiele der osmanisch-islamischen Architektur des 16. Jahrhunderts in Bosnien und Herzegowina. Im Krieg wurde sie zerstört, ihre Teile auf Müllhalden geworfen oder vergraben. Bis 2014 wurde sie wiederaufgebaut und rund 60 Prozent der alten Teile konnte wieder gefunden werden. Nun verbinden sich in der Moschee alt und neu zu einem dauerhaften Mahnmal des Kriegs.
