There are more than 30 anti-fascist monuments in Bosnia and Herzegovina alone, remnants of terrible times that lie behind the country and region. This specific one, located in the "Valley of Heroes" has been built in honour of the over 7,000 fallen partisans (among them over 750 women) of the almost month-long battle of Sutjeska.

The monument is a masterpiece of socialist art, 19 meters high and sturdy, but still fitting in perfectly with the surrounding National Park's nature. Between the wings is a passage shaped by fighters and columns in motion.

If you stop here, you can also have lunch at the restaurant located right below the memorial.
