"Buitenverwachting", an Afrikaans word, means "Against All Expectations" and this winery with it's victorian-style main house, and old coaks that cluster around a big meadow, providing shade, definitely exceeds expectations 😊
Buitenverwachting has a picnic, family-style atmosphere and you can easily spend the whole afternoon here. Plus, it's the first wine estate in South Africa to practice organic viticulture. The manure from the livestock kept is used for fertiliser and the vines are not irrigated artificially. While this lowers the yield of the wine farm, the wines have a reputation for having a better aroma. So what can I say: You definitely have to go try it yourself!
