This hidden gem is only an hour drive from Helsinki. They say Valkmusa National Park reminds a little bit of Lapland, and I understand why it is said so! Here you can feel the gentle breeze in open bogs, hear wetland birds sing, walk on duckboards and smell the distinguished scent of wild rosemary. I usually like to walk Simonsaari circular trail, but if you are willing to cook lunch during the day, I would suggest driving to Kananiemenharju parking and then walk around 2 kilometers to Moronvuori day hut. It is such a cute little hut in the middle of a forest, very nice for smaller kids to take with as well.
