What you’ll do

This affordable 7 day itinerary is perfect for those traveling on a budget. I have suggested renting a car, hostel and cheap accommodations so that you can cook your own meals. You can save money by traveling with a group of friends and splitting the costs. Alternatively you could also rent a campervan and pay at campsites which are cheaper than most hostels.

I have included places to eat out but you can choose to save even more money buy packing daily lunches, grabbing Somi Sandwiches from my grocery store or gas station, and cooking your own meals at your accommodation.

Today you will arrive in Iceland and explore the Reykjanes Peninsula. Depending on what time you arrive, you may not have time to complete everything on the itinerary so just pick your favorites before heading to Reykjavik. Everything on the itinerary today is chosen because it is closer to the airport so you can start exploring right away!

You will be staying in one of my favorite hostels in downtown Reykjavik, a great chance to meet other travelers. You will want to stop at a Bonus or Kronan on your way if you want to cook your own food in the kitchen, otherwise, they also have a restaurant and bar right inside!
