Remember to stay safe on your travels and check out safetravel.is before you go. I recommend signing up for the weather travel alerts while you are in Iceland. You'll recieve a text anytime there is bad weather you should know about in Iceland.

This is the weather site is specific to Iceland. You can change to english at the top. It will give you the overall weather as well as the precipitation, wind, and temperature by the hour. These are very important to follow when planning a trip in Iceland. I do not trust any other weather website or app in Iceland. The weather forecast is so unpredictable and changes quickly so make sure to check this daily. A long term forecast isn't really possible for Iceland. You can also see the cloud coverage on this website which is helpful when trying to find the northern lights.

You can check the conditions of all the roads in Iceland on this website. They also have web cameras showing some roads. Many roads can close in the winter time for a bad weather day or the season. It is important to check this website before every roadtrip in Iceland.

Most tourist places and all parking downtown require a parking fee which can be paid through the Parka App. It's really easy to use and I suggest downloading it and putting in your credit card information before you get to Iceland so you're not scrambling on site. You usually have 24 hours to pay the fee for any tourist sites, your rental car will charge you extra if you do not.

This app will help you find the northern lights. There is a lot of information on the app but I only focus on the forecast map of where the northern lights are currently. Under forecast you can check the KP level of the aurora. Any KP level with 2 or higher is likely you will see them if the skies are clear. Anything above 3 is HIGH chance of a great northern lights show.

AIRALO
I'm sure you can rent a wifi card from your car rental company but I like to use an eSIM app called Airalo (code KYANA3 for a discount on purchases) when I travel and it lets you get an eSIM in any country. This is great for having affordable data without crushing cell phone bill. You can use the link below or download the mobile app.
