Kerlingarfjöll is a mountain range in Iceland's central highlands, known for its geothermal wonderland of steaming vents, boiling mud pools, and rainbow-colored hot springs. This is one of the most unique places in Iceland and feels like you are on another planet. With steam all around you, the area is truly surreal.

This would be an impossible day trip by car from Reykjavik, but with a super jeep and a guide, anything is possible! You'll get a ride into the highlands on a super jeep and take an 8 km (5 mile) hike (easy) around the whole area and end in the area that is completely steaming and out of this world.

Make sure to pack a lunch for this one! It's a super long day but totally worth it! This area is unlike anywhere else in Iceland.
